South Auckland-Waikato Offshore Wind Project

Monday, November 14th, 2022

Following last week´s announcement of our South Taranaki project, the consortium formed by BlueFloat Energy, Energy Estate & Elemental Group Limited is thrilled to reveal their Waikato Offshore Wind project – a second investment in Aotearoa and part of its nation-wide programme to develop up to 5GW of offshore wind in New Zealand.

The Waikato Offshore Wind farm will be developed in phases to a capacity of up to 1.4 GW, using both fixed and floating foundation technology. This will contribute significantly to NZ’s net-zero journey, enabling social and environmental outcomes while powering large load areas such as Glenbrook, South Auckland, and Waikato, with the potential for Huntly to become a green energy hub.

South Taranaki Offshore Wind Project

Monday, November 14th, 2022

Elemental Group, BlueFloat Energy and Energy Estate are excited to announce their plans to construct an offshore wind farm 22 kilometres off the coast of South Taranaki. The proposed project is the first of four offshore wind projects planned by the consortium in Aotearoa with the potential to add up to 5GW of new clean energy generation.

South Taranaki is a bottom-fixed offshore wind project with the potential to generate ~900 MW of renewable electricity, the equivalent of powering nearly 440,000 homes, and create over 600 jobs in construction, operations and maintenance along with further employment opportunities throughout the supply chain.
