Transition to clean energy systems.
The whole world needs renewable energy, and here in New Zealand, we are blessed with an abundance of it. Some parts of the world have fewer options to produce their own renewable energy, and at the same time have large, increasingly energy-hungry populations. Therefore, it would be a win-win if there was a way for New Zealand to export renewable energy (beyond what we need here) to those countries. Fortunately, there are established technologies such as Green Hydrogen and other “E-Fuels” (synthetic fuels) that will enable this to be done. Alternatively, renewable energy can be exported in the form of energy-intensive, processed products such as Aluminium, or even by hosting data centres.
