A first of its kind event hosted by BlueFloat Energy, Energy Estate and Elemental Group in partnership with Engineering Taranaki Consortium and WITT/Te Pūkenga to raise awareness of the scale of the opportunity and potential for offshore wind in the country.

Following last week´s announcement of our South Taranaki project, the consortium formed by BlueFloat Energy, Energy Estate & Elemental Group Limited is thrilled to reveal their Waikato Offshore Wind project – a second investment in Aotearoa and part of its nation-wide programme to develop up to 5GW of offshore wind in New Zealand.

The Waikato Offshore Wind farm will be developed in phases to a capacity of up to 1.4 GW, using both fixed and floating foundation technology. This will contribute significantly to NZ’s net-zero journey, enabling social and environmental outcomes while powering large load areas such as Glenbrook, South Auckland, and Waikato, with the potential for Huntly to become a green energy hub.
